Cherished Memories in Quincy, MA

A Quincy, MA colonial home gets a fresh new interior design

With a desire to breathe new life into this twenty five year old colonial home, the owner chose to focus his attention on renovating the kitchen, dining room, powder room, and front entry area of his outdated dwelling.  Interested in staying rooted in the past through all the fond memories that had been created, Susan Curtis Interiors was respectful of keeping a balance between old and new.

Classic and timeless this vibrant white kitchen boasts an elegant bridge faucet by Rohl and amazing pendants, replicating antique gaslights, from Hudson Valley.

The custom blended backsplash made up of stone, ceramic, and glass gives this stunning kitchen warmth and personality.

Deep drawers in the island allow for easy access and visibility for storing plates, baking dishes, and pots and pans.  The microwave drawer is a convenient feature that eliminates the need to reach overhead to grab hot dishes.

To create an open floor plan and give the illusion of more space, the wall that once divided the kitchen and dining room was removed.  Now bright and spacious, the new area is perfect for entertaining and functional enough for everyday living.

Nostalgic about the dining room furniture, the cherished family heirloom was restored and made the inspiration for the overall design concept.   A custom paint technique was used to modernize the set and give it a soft, subtle tonal appearance.

The surface of the buffet was finished with a high gloss paint to mimic the look of stone. Select hardware was removed and those retained were burnished to enhance the overall aesthetic.

The powder room was transformed and appointed with impeccable details. Panel molding around the perimeter of the room combined with hand pressed 2x2 metal accent pieces highlighting the tile floor bring added character and dimension to this quaint little space.

The intricate detail of the custom designed entry floor creates a memorable first impression. The varied sized, honed limestone tiles give this monochromatic color palette a sophisticated textural appeal.
